beware.... QQQ! QQQ is hitting the studio in June, aiming for a Fall release of a new CD. i'm also teaching traditional hardanger fiddle music at the Hardanger Fiddle Assocation of America fest in Wisconsin. and now, a cute QQQ video by judy trueman.
a CD/DVD of Five (and-a-half) Gardens is complete and was released by an exciting new label, Shhh Productions in conjunction with New Amsterdam Records, a terrific label for new music projects coming out of NYC. Release celebrated at Joe's Pub on March 21. Get it at New Amsterdam's great site.
PLOrk is in action again! The beast recently performed in Chicago (video coming soon). We just completed a commission from Turbulence for a new PLOrk piece. The American Composers Orchestra premiered a piece combining PLOrk and the ACO at Zankel Hall on April 25; reviewed here, videos about the project here. A paper about Why we would do such a Thing as PLOrk was recently published in Organised Sound, with related papers in the Computer Music Journal. Finally, we (myself and Perry Cook) have been awarded a major grant from the MacArthur Foundation for PLOrk initiatives. Read more here
