Performance Certificate FAQs

When will auditions be held for the Program in Performance?

Auditions will be moved to the start of the fall semester, and will be held at the end of the week of September 7.

When will auditions for MUS213: Projects in Performance be held?

Because of the lack of preparation time for ensemble formation and rehearsal, MUS 213 will not be offered in the Fall 2020 semester. However, an expanded version of the course will be offered in the Spring 2021 term.

When will auditions for MUS 219 (La Calisto) happen?

Excerpts from the opera will be posted online and distributed through the voice faculty. Interested students should submit an audition video to Michael Pratt by June 1, 2020, featuring the excerpts as well as an Italian Baroque aria. Casting decisions will be made and scores sent to cast members to learn by the Fall.

How can I complete my recital?

Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to reschedule their recitals for Fall 2020. Students unable to reschedule should present a substantial portion of their recital (30 minutes) through a video recording (recorded accompaniment is acceptable). If neither option if possible, students may use their end-of-semester online live jury to fulfill their recital requirement. Students should discuss these options with their teachers, who will certify each student’s preparedness and inform the Department. Stay tuned for more detailed guidelines.

Will juries be held?

End-of-semester juries will be held online for all students taking lessons for credit. Ryan Dalton will be in touch with details.
