About the Artist:
Bartosz Kaczmarski ’19 is a senior in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department pursuing the Certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems as well as the Certificate in Cello Performance. Bartosz is from Gdańsk, Poland where he spent most of his life focused on musical and scientific education before coming to Princeton University. For ten years, Bartosz simultaneously underwent the Polish school curriculum and attended the Music School Complex in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, where, along other music theory courses, he took cello classes with Prof. Tadeusz Samerek. Bartosz performed at numerous concerts, competitions and charitable events. Some of the notable awards that he received include the 3rd Prize and the Professor Krzysztof Sperski’s Special Award for the Best Performance of a Polish Composer’s Piece in the IV Nationwide String Instrument Competition in Poland (Elblag, 2015), as well as the 2nd Prize in the V Piano Chamber Ensemble Competition in Poland (Gdynia, 2015). Since freshman year, Bartosz has been taking cello lessons with Susannah Chapman and he has shared his passion for music with others as a member of the Princeton University Orchestra. When not playing cello or studying solid mechanics, Bartosz enjoys playing badminton and swimming.
