MUS 213/214 Auditions

Announcing auditions for two performance courses being offered in Spring 2019: 

MUS 213 – Projects in Instrumental Performance: Chamber Music

Instructors: Sō Percussion and Performance Faculty

Description: Instrumental chamber music class of the standard repertory of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Preparation for performance of ensembles. Each ensemble’s repertoire will be determined in consultation with the instructors during the first week of classes. Students are guided through a given work with the goal of performing it in a performance at the end of the semester. Sources used in this course are pieces from the chamber music literature. Auditions will take place on November 15, 2018 in Woolworth, Room 106. 

MUS 214 – Projects in Vocal Performance/American Musical Theatre

Instructor: Martha Elliott

Description: This course will invite student singers and pianists to prepare and perform songs from 20th and 21st century American Musical Theatre. Each week students will be coached on their songs in a master class format with an emphasis on musical, vocal, and acting issues. Repertoire will be covered in a historical overview from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. Student singers and pianists must audition for the class and are expected to collaborate outside of class time to choose and rehearse repertoire. A final concert at the end of the semester will showcase chosen repertoire from the class. Auditions will take place on Tuesday, December 4 from 6:30-9:30 pm in Woolworth Room 102.
