The TRENTON YOUTH SINGERS (TYS) is a youth choir, run by Princeton University students, that serves middle school students from Trenton public schools. During weekly rehearsals, members engage in a mixture of full choir and small-group singing, learning an eclectic mix of repertoire while building their musicianship skills and vocal strength. TYS has previously performed in Rockefeller College and in collaboration with the Trenton Youth Orchestra. TYS is supported by the Department of Music and the Pace Center for Civic Engagement.
TYS rehearses every Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM in 102 Woolworth Music Center. Princeton students can volunteer for TYS as Teaching Artists, which entails attending every rehearsal and coaching members. We also welcome students and student music groups of all instruments and genres to perform for TYS during one of our rehearsals, followed by a Q&A. And if you are organizing a concert that you think we would enjoy, we accept donations in the form of free tickets!
If you are interested in getting involved, please email TYS Faculty Advisor Stephanie Tubiolo at stubiolo@princeton.edu.
