A Guggenheim Fellow and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Guthrie P. Ramsey, Jr. is a music historian, pianist, composer, and Professor Emeritus of Music at the University of Pennsylvania. An honorary member of the American Musicological Society, he’s currently the Visiting Dean’s Distinguished Chair in Music at McGill University.
This talk explores Professor Ramsey’s thirty years of multimodal inquiry as a scholar, writer, musician, teacher, and community activist as a route of possibility for an academic career in music.
