The Princeton Caribbean Conference is BACK!

Launched in 2004, as “A Taste of Carnival” and revived in 2023 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Princeton University Caribbean Connection, the conference connects individuals interested in the Caribbean with experts who have shaped their respective fields to be in community and engage in thought-provoking discourse about the region in academia and beyond. This year’s theme is entitled, “Small Places, Big Futures: Transforming Island Perspectives into Global Dialogues.” The conference will be taking place on November 1st (4 pm-8 pm) and November 2nd (9 am-5:30 pm) in McDonnell Hall. The conference will feature a keynote panel entitled, “What is the future of Caribbean Studies at Princeton?”, which will be followed by a postering session for student work/research on the Caribbean on Friday evening. On Saturday, we will have a day of panels from arts to politics and even engineering in the Caribbean, stressing the importance of life on the islands beyond tourism for those of the Global North. Some panel titles include: “Island Imagery: The Intersection of Representation and Creative Expression in Art”, “Climate Dialogues: Charting Pathways to Resilience”, and “Political Paradigms: Perspectives on People, Power, and Politics in the Caribbean”.

Registration is mandatory for attending. Tickets are OPEN and open to all, including Princeton students, faculty, and staff, alumni, non-Princeton students, and the general public. Spots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Ready to secure your spot? Please visit tickets.princeton.edu and search “PCC” to find the event. Princeton students, faculty, and staff must login in to see the FREE pricing or visit the Frist Ticketing Desk to reserve your ticket. We hope to see you there!
