to the original recordings of the tunes performed – helped inspire my playing
this performance.

Nikhil De ’23 is a senior in the Computer Science Department from Forth Worth,
Texas receiving a certificate in Jazz Studies. He plays the mandolin & violin in Jazz
Small Group X and the bass in Small Group Z. Outside of the music department, he
is a member of the Princeton Sailing Team and a DJ on WPRB.

Chloe Raichle ’23 is a senior from New Jersey concentrating in Ecology and
Evolutionary Biology. She plays bass in a variety of musical contexts from jazz gigs
in NYC to collaborations with jazz festivals in the tristate area. On campus, she
performs with Small Group 1 as well as Triangle Pit, PUP pit, and recently in
collaboration with the Toni Morrison symposium event. She studies with Matthew
Parrish. Chloe will be joining the faculty at NYU in a few months and will be
pursuing a career in medicine in the meantime!

Evan DeTurk ’23 is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger from Seattle,
Washington majoring in Molecular Biology and pursuing a certificate in Jazz
Studies. At Princeton, Evan has studied under David Liebman, Rudresh
Mahanthappa, Darcy James Argue, and Miles Okazaki. He also leads the funk band
Gemenon and plays saxophone in the indie neo-soul band Hot Jupiter.

Rohit Ooman ’24 is a guitarist from Brooklyn, NY. He is a junior in the Economics
department and has performed with Michael League, Wyclef Gordon and Wynton
Marsalis.

Alex MacArthur ’25 is a sophomore from Newton, Massachusetts who plans to
declare a concentration in History with certificates in French Language & Culture,
European Cultural Studies, and Values & Public Life. He is a trained jazz drummer
and trumpet player, and has performed in a wide array of events and competitions
ranging from the Panama Jazz Festival to the Mingus Competition. He is also a
musical omnivore, and enjoys listening to and studying everything from early
music to dancehall. He currently plays drums for Hot Jupiter and Gemenon, and
studies under Vincent Ector. His principal academic areas of interest are
contemporary and 19th century politics, European and postcolonial intellectual
history, and literary history. Outside of his studies, Alex enjoys cooking, reading,
(re) watching films, going to concerts, and playing folk music ‘round the bonfire
with his closest friends.
