You read that right — saxophone! 24-year-old phenomenon Jess Gillam is setting the musical world ablaze by completely reconceiving the saxophone’s role within classical music. The first ever saxophonist to be signed to the prestigious Decca Classics label, her genre-bending albums consistently top classical charts. She has continued to shatter glass ceilings as the first saxophonist to reach the final of the BBC Young Musician competition, and the youngest presenter for BBC Radio 3 in its history, hosting the show “This Classical Life.” We were lucky to get a taste of her irresistible charm in a Princeton University Concerts virtual stream in 2021, and have no doubt that her charismatic magic will sparkle all the more in person.
