Jeff Snyder Releases Three New Albums

It is an exciting fall season for our Director of Electronic Music and the Princeton Laptop Orchestra, Jeff Snyder. This Friday, November 9, Snyder will release “Concerning the Nature of Things.” This new album of original compositions blends influences from medieval polyphony, algorithmically-generated Brazilian rhythms, and experimental noise music and features unusual electronic instruments that Snyder invented and built. The album also includes the talents of many Department of Music members (present and past), including Gabriel Crouch, Dan Trueman, Jason Treuting, Eric Cha-Beach, Mike Mulshine, Caroline Shaw, Anna Meadors, Seth Cluett, among others. You can watch a music video of one of the tracks below.

Later this month, Snyder will release the second album from his electro-country band, Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves. “The Best of Your Lies,” to be released on Friday, November 30, “expands and deepens the electro-country sound, blending a honky-tonk barroom atmosphere with late-night dance-club delirium and the faded glamour of a sweeping countrypolitan string orchestra.” You can catch a sample of this unique sound when the band performs at the Princeton Public Library on November 10th at 7PM in a Record Release Party.

Both albums come on the heels of a September release of “Listening Group,” featuring Snyder as a member of the large experimental jazz ensemble.

Congratulations to Jeff!
