Neerav Kumar, from Rye, NY, was a clarinetist for the Princeton University Orchestra as he studied “Optimizing AAV-Mediated Gene Delivery in the Brain” for his work in the Molecular Biology Department while pursuing Certificates in Music Performance and Neuroscience. He continued to teach as part of Music Measures, a program that he co-founded to teach piano at the Boys and Girls Club in Stamford, CT, throughout his time at Princeton, including adapting the curriculum to a virtual format during the pandemic. Reflecting on his time at Princeton, Neerav is grateful for the opportunity to play for the principal clarinetists of the New York and Hong Kong Philharmonics—Anthony McGill and Andy Simon—and for the guidance and support of his clarinet instructor, Jo-Ann Sternberg.
